There’s just a few spots open for my August workshop. With this small group I will have more time to give more individual attention and guide you to draw, paint, and find new ways of experiencing your creative process. Click HERE for more info!
Wow. What a wild time we’re all living through.
I hope you’re hanging in there. One thing I know for sure: having some kind of creative practice can be a true anchor in moments of stress or uncertainty. Keep that sketchbook close by!
I’m writing this from the “lounge” of my mechanic’s shop, waiting on my car. Honestly, it’s one of the reasons I love living in the country—there’s something uniquely charming about having a country mechanic. When the weather’s nice, I put my e-bike in the trunk and ride home instead of waiting around. But today, I’m here. Waiting. Writing.
Lately, I’ve been drawn to books about surrender—about letting go of control and handing things back to the universe, or God, or whatever name speaks to you. Every time fear or anxiety surfaces, I consciously pause and hand it over. And you know what? It’s helping. I feel a little more grounded, a little more calm.

This reminds me of another time in my life when I was really tuned in to trust and guidance. I’ve always believed in that kind of support—that flow of signs and “breadcrumbs” from the universe. But I go through phases where the miracles feel quieter. Usually, that’s when I’ve slipped out of regular meditation, when I’m a bit less tuned in. When I am paying attention, the breadcrumbs start to light up again.
Years ago, I was seeing a wonderful therapist who recommended I read a book called Mutant Message Down Under. I called my local library—they didn’t have it, but they could order it. Hard to believe now, but back then even buying a book felt like a splurge.

The next day, I went to get my winter tires changed. In the waiting room—cracked leather couch, car magazines, the usual—I spotted Mutant Message Down Under sitting right there on the coffee table. I picked it up and asked the owner, Lenny, “Whose book is this?” He looked over the counter and said, “I guess it’s yours.”
That moment really stayed with me. The book itself? I vaguely remember it—something about a spiritual walkabout in Australia, and I liked it. But what’s vivid, even now, is the feeling of magic—that moment of receiving exactly what I needed, in the most unexpected place. These books are really inspiring me right now. By Tosha Silver.

Closing of the New Yorker show
It was such fun to have Sonya and Mona at the closing of the New Yorker show at L'Alliance New York. They recreated the pose of my last cover with them on the beach!
(That painting sold :) But my other painting is available. Write me if you’d like to know the price. The talk with AD Françoise Mouly and her daughter Nadja was fascinating. Loved hearing all about Francoise’s long career. I first met Nadja back when June Brides - my first New Yorker cover was chosen from the Blown Covers project that Nadja worked on with Françoise. They also spoke with Anita Kunz, Barry Blitt and Peter DeSeve —each of them very inspiring. And I got to meet one of my favorite cover artists Christoph Neimann (the tall guy) and have a birthday lunch with my artist girlfriends
and Mokshini. AND I spent time with my kids and drawing with Mona at a local coffee show our new fave thing to do. - all of this in one day!PODCAST
